It was 24 th October 1978 when Subhash Ghai launched his production company MUKTA ARTS with Rishi Kapoor starter KARZ an evergreen musical classic till date and never looked back in launching all his movies on 24th October on the day of his wedding anniversary. He kept name of his company as Mukta Arts in favour of his wife Mukta Ghai from Pune.

A student in acting courses from FTII had four years stunt as an actor in Mumbai and became a storywriter for top 6 directors of 70's including Prakash Mehra and Dulal Guha with his scripts like Aakhri Daaku and Khan Dost. After being a writer for 3 years he was given a chance to direct his own script KALICHARAN which established him as a director par excellence. He wrote and directed an other super hit VISHWANATH for Shatrughan Sinha production. He was recognised for his crispy talent of dialogue writing and extracting performances from actors big or small. After directing two more films with bigger canvas as Gautam Govinda and Krodhi starring Dharmendra he launched his production company on 24th October 1978 with KARZ and he came up in the rank of top musical directors and craftsmen of hindi main steam cinema. After watching KARZ superstar DILIP KUMAR accepted to work under his direction and script VIDHATA a golden jubilee godfather film produced by Gulshan Rai with a young new actor SANJAY DUTT on 24 oct 1981.

He launched his new company as MUKTA ARTS PVT LTD company on 24th October 1982 with his evergreen musical love story HERO introducing JACKIE SHROFF and MEENAXI SHESHADRI.

He launched a court drama MERI JUNG for his mentor N N Sippy on 24th Oct 1984 casting then rising actor Anil Kapoor who became a star actor for his performance of a lawyer.

Since then on every 24th October whole film industry would wait for his announcement of new movie under Mukta Arts. Distributors would send their cheques in advance on 24th without knowing the star cast. He became a most popular writer director producer of India. Media titled him him as SHOWMAN after his biggest blockbuster action film KARMA with an immortal patriotic song "E watan tere liye".

A string of blockbusters were followed like family drama RAM LAKHAN, Epic story of two titans SAUDAGAR with Dilip kumar Raj Kumar, an emotional crime thriller KHALNAYAK, an Indian daughter story PARDES, a grand big screen musical TAAL, father daughters social drama YAADEIEN, period drama KISNA, a musical canvas YUVRAAJ and issue based drama on terrorists BLACK and WHITE. All these movies were launched on 24th October of the year.

In 2001, Mukta arts was first hindi production company which was listed in public in India and raised funds to set up world class film and media arts school Whistling Woods International in filmcity (Mumbai) to groom next generations of content and film makers. It's top ten in the world out of hundred schools all over.

Mukta Arts produced 42 films including super hits like Aitraz, China Town, Iqbal, Ek aur Ek Gyarah, Apna Sapna Money Money, Jaan and so on and distributed 400 plus films and today run 60 screens as exhibitors all over.

Mukta arts developed a huge story bank with younger and veteran writers and today Mukta Arts has tied up with India's one of the biggest ZEE STUDIO to produce three movies in 2021.
