Subhash Ghai and Meghna Ghai Puri on Cinema, Filmmaking Legacy and Artificial Intelligence
Speaking about the creative journey and educational legacy of Whistling Woods International, President Meghna Ghai Puri highlighted the institution's completion of 20 years and its contribution of over four and a half thousand alumni to the Indian entertainment industry. She noted that her father, veteran filmmaker Subhash Ghai, envisioned an institute in Mumbai to empower individuals without existing industry connections. Addressing the ongoing evolution of technology and tools like artificial intelligence, Meghna Ghai Puri stressed that the primary objective remains fostering students as responsible creators while adapting to technological shifts. Sharing his perspective on contemporary tools, Subhash Ghai remarked that he engages daily with platforms including Gemini, Claude, and ChatGPT. Emphasising that algorithms cannot replace human connection, he stated that storytelling and emotional resonance remain paramount, asserting that cinema will always require strong directors capable of commanding every craft of filmmaking.
