Mr. Rahul Puri shares his views on the latest trailers and first looks: The First Cut

Given the content and cast of the films lined up, expectations are soaring, putting considerable pressure on the makers to create the biggest impact they can while unveiling the first glimpse of their films. The first trailer of a film has to be hard-hitting, convey the right message and be appealing enough to translate into footfalls at the box office. Not many films have done great business at the ticket window this year, so far, but the trailers that released recently suggest that things are about to change.

Kicking off the list is the trailer of the much-anticipated Sabbir Khan's Munna Michael featuring Tiger Shroff and Nawazuddin Siddiqui, followed by Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar starrer Toilet: Ek Prem Katha directed by Shree Narayan Singh.

Then we have Suneel Darshan's romantic thriller, Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha. The film features Shiv Darshan, Natasha Fernandez and Upen Patel. Raj & DK's A Gentleman, releasing on August 25, recently released its motion posters along with the first-look posters. The film features Sidharth Malhotra and Jacqueline Fernandez in the lead.

Arjun Rampal returns as a producer in the upcoming film Daddy. Rampal, who has also co-written the film, also essays the title role in the film, which chronicles the true story of Mumbai's underworld don, Arun Gawli.

Haseena Parkar directed by Apoorva Lakhia features the brother-sister duo Shraddha Kapoor and Siddhanth Kapoor and is based on underworld gangster Dawood Ibrahim's sister Haseena Parkar. Slated to release on August 18, the film will showcase Shraddha in a never-seen-before avatar.

We even saw the first-look posters of Shah Rukh Khan-Anushka Sharma's Jab Harry Met Sejal, being directed by Imtiaz Ali and Ajay Devgn, Emraan Hashmi, Vidyut Jammwal, Ileana D'Cruz, Esha Gupta and Sanjay Mishra's Badshaho directed by Milan Luthria.

This week, we asked tradewallahs to comment on the impact of these trailers and first looks, and tell us what they think about these films and their fate at the box office:

You have to go for Toilet: Ek Prem Katha. It's such a good title for a film Toilet: Ek Prem Katha... that there is instant interest. The trailer too is attention-grabbing because it's something that Akshay Kumar has become synonymous with now - a fun film which has a good, strong message. I think audiences have reacted strongly to the trailer and it will certainly emerge as the film of choice in the weekend that it's released. The other interesting trailer is that of Munna Michael because it showcases exactly what people want to see in a film with Tiger Shroff. Not to mention the obvious Jab Harry Met Sejal and Badshaho which will be sureshot winners.
